Once we have found an expert for you and he/she has returned a meritorious review, you will be advised to make contact with the expert. Our involvement in your case ceases at this point unless you encounter problems with the expert or require additional experts. In this manner, the expert becomes your expert, not ours.
You should negotiate fees with the expert. When the expert is deposed or testifies, you pay him/her directly. Instead of a small part of the fee going to the expert and most to a "service," you pay only the expert. As a result, the expert is much less expensive to you and likely more motivated to perform well.
We do ask that you not send other cases to an expert we've found without our consultation. Often experts find such contact inappropriate. Sometimes cases have been sent to them that are not within their specialty. Often they are helping us because of mutual friendships or collegiality.
Treat your expert with respect and generosity! If he were greedy we would not have chosen him. Offer him a retainer. Pay him for research and consultation. Develop a personal relationship with him. He is the cornerstone of your case. Make him want to help you!
